PRE & POST CARE

PRE-CARE

During the initial consultation, we perform a hair analysis to ensure you are a prime candidate for our services. We then will coordinate a virtual call with one of our affiliate doctors in Turkey so that they can give you a comprehensive analysis and breakdown of how they would restore your hair!

We recommend Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) services as an effective treatment. By using your body's natural healing power, PRP stimulates hair growth. We recommend this option when appropriate to enhance, heal, and strengthen the scalp and follicles prior to the procedure.

These treatments are designed to cleanse and rejuvenate the scalp, ensuring it is in optimal condition for other procedures like derma rolling and hair transplants. These services are expertly provided by our select partners.

A balanced diet is key to promoting hair strength. We recommend introducing specific foods in your diet, such as those rich in collagen, to bolster your hair health. Proper nutrition plays a significant role in achieving successful results.

Before any procedure, we recommend changes to your hair care routine. This includes switching to specific shampoos and conditioners and incorporating treatments like derma rollers and serums. This preparation strengthens both your scalp and the donor area, improving the success rate of the procedure.

Managing stress is essential for a successful hair restoration journey. We encourage clients to reduce stress through various means, which can include regular exercise at the gym, meditation, relaxing walks, or spending time outdoors.

POST-CARE

We provide comprehensive post-operative care instructions to our clients, including guidance on how to wash their hair, protect it from sun exposure, and care for the newly transplanted area. Proper aftercare is essential for a successful recovery and achieving the best results.

As part of our commitment to our clients, we partnered with several industry experts that offer Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP). It is crucial to continue your PRP treatments post transplant to maintain and strengthen your hair.

Our team ensures that clients adhere to their recommended medication plan, including Finasteride, Minoxidil, Biotin, and other essential treatments.

We are dedicated to providing education and ongoing support to our clients throughout the healing process. This includes post-procedure consultations to address any concerns and ensure that clients feel confident and well-informed during their journey to hair restoration.

before your operation

AVOID THE PARTY BOOSTERS

It is best to steer clear of alcohol and caffeine for two to three days leading up to the procedure. We want everything to go smoothly when our skilled doctors work their magic with anesthetics.

AVOID BLOOD THINNING MEDS

Before your hair transplant procedure (and during our consultative discussions), kindly inform us of any medical conditions you may have and the medications you are currently taking.

We strongly recommend that you consult with your primary healthcare provider or dermatologist before proceeding with the planned hair transplantation procedure. We are here to provide guidance, but your primary healthcare expert's advice should be a vital part of the decision-making process.

STAY COOL,  SKIP THE SMOKE

Smoking's a non-starter. It can tighten those blood vessels and put a damper on your hair's style. So, no smoking the day before or during the first week after surgery.

operation day

THE BIG EVENT

On the day of your hair transformation, kick things off with a refreshing shower and your regular personal hygiene routine. Leave those styling products behind – your hair's about to get a fantastic makeover! Show up well-rested with a light meal in your stomach, and don't worry about caffeine. We've got the excitement covered!

DRESS SMART & SNUG

Opt for a buttoned shirt or a wide-collar tee – they're hair-friendly. This comfy clothing idea is perfect for the weeks following the procedure.

OPERATION ROOM SECRETS

Your buddies can't join you in the operation room, but we've got a great place for them in our waiting area. No chewing gum, keep the talking to a minimum – we're on a serious hair mission!

HANDLE WITH TLC

Lastly, resist the temptation to touch those precious grafts during and after the operation. They're the stars of the show, and we want them to shine their brightest!

after your operation

DAY TO DAY ACTIVITES

  1. Back to work: You can resume your daily work life after 5 days! If your job requires heavy lifting, we recommend sitting out for 7-14 days to ensure follicles stay in their place.

  2. Avoid wearing a hat/helmet for minimum 30 days: This is to ensure the grafts are not damaged and to limit sweating which leads to grafts falling from your scalp

  3. Bending: Minimum of 3 days to ensure grafts will not pop out of your head.

  4. Coughing/Sneezing: Try to limit coughing or sneezing for 3-5 days. We don’t want those grafts popping out of your scalp.

  5. Sweating: You want to keep your new hair? Try not to sweat for one month (yes that sounds impossible) but this is to ensure we keep the maximum amount of grafts on your head for full coverage!

  6. No Swimming: We recommend 2-3 weeks of land, no water! We need those grafts to heal nicely.

  7. Smoking: Stop one week before and one week after, this extends the recovery period. You know what that means? It is a great time to consider quitting, forever!

  8. No Scratching: Instead use your finger and rub the areas that are itchy! This ensures the healing process isn’t lengthened and keeps grafts intact.

  9. Alcohol?: You are going dry for two weeks before and after your procedure! This ensures the operation and healing process are successful as alcohol affects blood pressure.

  10. Avoid the Sun: We aren’t asking you to be a vampire, all we ask is for you to avoid direct sun exposure to your scalp for 6 months minimum. This is to ensure your grafts heal nicely and the deeper tissues are not affected by the UV.

  11. Sex: Unless you do not sweat, and avoid heavy lifting, you are good to go! You can resume after 1 week with freedom

  12. Sauna/Solarium: These cause sweating, which we have covered above. Avoid them for 1 month to ensure a successful post-op.

  13.  Can you go back to the Gym?: Avoid intense exercise and sweating for 10 days minimum. Light exercises such as walking, yoga, etc are acceptable after 4 days after the procedure

  14. Avoid Sudden Movement: You see something cool? Don’t be a squirrel and move your head quickly. Be careful to not hit your head against anything, especially the car door after the procedure. We need to keep those grafts in place!.

SLEEPING 101

  1. Clean Sheets: Ensure your sheets are clean the day of your transplant, this is to make sure we do not get any infections on your recently implanted grafts.

  2. Face up!: This is the position of your sleep for the next 10 days. Ensure you bring a neck pillow for a comfortable experience, tilting your head at a 45 degree angle.

WASHING YOUR SCALP

  1. Hair Dryer > Towel: For the first month, do not use a towel to dry your hair. Hair Dryer on the coolest setting is the best case scenario to keep your grafts in tact

  2. Gentle Hand Washing: Dab your scalp and do not rub aggressively until your 10th day wash.

  3. Hair Care Products: Negative for 3 months, to ensure your recovery is not interrupted.

  4. Shampoo: Our Affiliates in Istanbul will provide you with a kit that includes your specific shampoo. Please use this for the next two weeks, and then proceed to change to a shampoo product that we will recommend to you.

  5. Water Pressure/Temperature: Soft and lukewarm is the play here.

AFTER CARE TIPS

  1. Swelling: Usually swelling occurs 2-7 days after the procedure, it can start from the scalp and leak to your face. Not to worry, this will not last forever! This is a secondary reaction to the healing of your scalp skin and can be avoided by ensuring you keep your headband on and give your scalp a rest every hour for 10-15 minutes. The swelling is a part of the healing process and will usually disappear within 5-7 days.

  2. Bumping: Do not bump your head for the first 2 months, we want to ensure each graft is maintained as this can cause them to fall!

  3. Need a haircut?: Wait as long as possible to get your first haircut. Your follicles are healing and we do not want to disrupt them from doing so. If you are craving a cut, wait a minimum of 1-2 months.

  4. Can you use a Razor: No. You need to wait 4-6 months before using a razor, to ensure healing of your donor and recipient area.

  5. Hair Dye?: Let your hair heal and grow, we recommend 6 months to ensure proper healing.

  6. Burning Sensation: This can occur after 2-4 days of operation. This is part of the healing process, and does not happen to everyone!

  7. Healthy Diet: Like plants your follicles need fuel, we recommend a healthy diet containing collagen, in order for your cells to regenerate and grow healthy long hair.

  8. Numbness: This can last up to 6-8 weeks! Do not worry as eventually you would be able to feel your scalp again. As your sensory nerves wake up, the numbness goes away.

  9. Itchiness and Redness: For some people itchiness and redness can last up to 6 months, and for some 4 months. Embrace it and your healing journey will be amazing knowing you are going to have a full head of hair soon!

Post Procedure Hair Wash

below is our step by step guildines to washing your hair post transplant surgery!

Step 1: Apply Lotion

Use provided lotion on transplanted and donor areas. Tap gently with 7-8 drops, wait 1 hour, then rinse during hair wash. Apply in the same direction as grafts.

Step 2: Apply Shampoo

Use provided medical shampoo one hour after lotion application. Create foam, spread gently through donor and recipient areas, leave for 2-3 minutes, and rinse. Use more lotion on the donor area if needed.

Step 3: Rinse

Use warm water, not pressured hot water. Pour water using a bowl, not the shower. Rinse shampoo thoroughly.

Step 4: Dry

Use a hair dryer, ensure the setting is cold and at a moderate distance; avoid towels.

Third and Fourth Week After Hair Transplant:

If scabs persist, apply 12-15 drops of lotion on the transplanted area for up to 2 hours. Wash with provided shampoo and gently massage to remove scabs."

One Month After Hair Transplant:

You've successfully navigated the critical phase. Feel free to resume your regular activities, including the use of towels, but we strongly advise continuing to use a hair dryer for an extended period if possible.

Friendly Reminder: Send us photos from different angles after following washing instructions for two weeks.

Hair Growth Stage

  1. Shock Loss: This happens to most of our patients from months 1-3, it triggers the regrowth of your transplanted hair and donor area. By month 6 you would have forgotten about it!

  2. Hair Growth Incoming: By months 3-4 you should see little hairs coming in. This is the sign of a successful procedure and something to celebrate!

  3. Thicker Hair Growth: By month 6-8 you should see a lot of thickness in the implantation area. Smile as you are halfway there!

  4. Final Result: By 10-12 months you should see your final result, this does not include the crown area, as that takes roughly 18 months for the final product!

  5. Maintenance: Do not forget what we told you, keep up with your daily vitamins, healthy diet, and other medications we have instructed you to take (Minoxidil or Finasteride). Derma Roll twice weekly, accompanied by the serum we recommend, as this will maintain current and new hair.
